Robert Palmer: "Every Kinda People" (Live 1978)

"Every Kinda People" is a 1978 song originally performed by Robert Palmer in his Double Fun album. It was Palmer's first hit song in the U.S., reaching the Top 20. The song was written by Andy Fraser.

With its blend of Caribbean steel pan, violins and moving lyrics, "Every Kinda People" has become one of Palmer's best-loved songs, covered multiple times by other artists (including Chaka Demus and Pliers, Randy Crawford and Amy Grant) and cited by music fans and spiritual groups for its positive message of peace and multiculturalism.

In addition to the 1978 original, Palmer had it remixed on both of his Addictions greatest-hits albums, the first (in 1989) a slight remix by Eric Thorngren and the other a Caribbean-flavored 1992 version engineered by Pino Pischetola.

The song was covered by S Club member Jo O'Meara for the movie "The Guru" A video was shot but never released. It was going to be a single but was cancelled for still unknown reasons. It was also included in S Club's album, Seeing Double.

The song has also been covered by Frankie Goes To Hollywood and was released as a rare track on the "Frankie Say Greatest" compilation (2009).

- Lyrics:

Every Kinda People
Robert Palmer
Words & Music : Andy Fraser
Notes : Aussi interprte par "Mint Juleps"

Said the fight to make ends meet
Keeps a man upon his feet
Holding down his job
Trying to show he can't be bought

Ooh, it takes every kind of people
To make what life's about, yeah
Every kind of people
To make the world go 'round

Someone's looking for a lead
In his duty to a King or creed
Protecting what he feels is right
Fights against wrong with his life

There's no profit in deceit
Honest men know that
Revenge do not taste sweet
Whether yellow, black or white
Each and every man's the same inside

It takes every kind of people
To make what life's about, yeah
Every kind of people
To make the world go 'round

You know that love's the only goal
That could bring a peace to any soul
Hey, and every man's the same
He wants the sunshine in his name

Ooh, it takes every kind of people
