The music video illustrating the song was named by MuchMusic as the worst video of 1987.

In 2011, the song was remixed as electro house by Hypnofonia, a DJ duo based in Quebec City, Canada.

- Lyrics:

Celebrate simple ways
With your …
We take the holidays with all our friends
It’s a time to relate
Leave your worries behind
It took me several weeks when cross my mind
It was prime of the time we never forget
One morning our parents kicked us out of bed
We told them that the stupid don’t play the fool
But the answer was shouted you gotta go to school
Geez running up and down and every body know
That …
While the G rocks the house and you know what I’m saying
Now when he’s on the mic there’ll be no delaying
So you better run to see him in your neighborhood
He check it out
He’s out of words we say
Scream it out we need a holiday
We’re gonna ring a rang a dong for the holidays
Put your arms in the air
Let me hear you say
We’re gonna ring a rang a dong for the holidays
Put your arms in the air
Let me hear you say
Mike and Dee are here let me hear you say
Hey check out the new style we just played

(chorus)
We are going on a summer holiday
If you want to go you’ll swim
We’re going to London and New York City
And we’ll take a little piece of Amsterdam
Right
We are going on a summer holiday
If you want to go you’ll swim
We’re going to London and New York City
And we’ll take a little piece of Amsterdam
Right

I want a holiday
I’ll scream it loud
School is the only thing I got
… I better go
Because hanging on the street
And street get show
And the bot rocks
What happened to you?
I told him it’s my life I know what I’m doin’
I started school I thought I’d never stay
Give me several weeks again I need a holiday

Well this is my partner with the number one jam
Famous in the boogie in Amsterdam
He’s the fastest rapper yo his name is Miker G
His rap is longer than a sucker MC
Well let me show you what my man can do
Rapping talking and the Boogaloo too
Well anyways, no more delays
Just listen to the beat box he will play

My name is Dee Jay Sven and also DJ
I didn’t like the school so I took the other way
I like the mic
So I use my voice and soon I got me a big Rolls Royce
That’s why my name is Miker G
Use the honey days with the F-I-C
On the street with the party …
I groove in thie world starting in the neighborhood
We are going on a summer holiday

We’re gonna ring a rang a dong for the holidays
Put your arms in the air
Let me hear you say
We’re gonna ring a rang a dong for the holidays
Put your arms in the air
Let me hear you say
Mike and Dee are here let me hear you say
Hey check out the new style we just played

(chorus)

Write is the thing most rappers do
Yo I can write my shit too
I can understand things most rappers say
Because rapping is my thing and I do it every day
I’m the number one rapper yo my name is Sven
I could rap more raps than Superman can
So I’m the guy on your radio
Also rapping to the rhythm on your stereo
And you don’t stop the party rocks
And you don’t stop the party rocks
Spell my name right I’m Miker G
M I K E R and D and C
Yo M is Microphone and G is Genius
Miker G in the house get serious

And you know that
And you show that
It starts when so let’s go back

(chorus with variation until end)

Chorus:
Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Feel the rhythm of it is getting stronger
Don't you fight it, do you try to do the conga beat
Everybody, get around now, let your body feel the heat
Don't you worry if you can't dance, let the music move your feet
It's the rhythm of the island, and like sugar-canes so sweet
If you want to do the conga, you've got to listen to the beat
chorus
Feel the fire of desire, as you dance the night away
'Cos tonight we're gonna party 'til we see the break of day
Better get yourself together, and hold on to what you got
Once the music hits your system, there's no way you're gonna stop
chorus
(Instrumental break)
chorus repeats 2x
Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga!

U2 - "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" (1987)

"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" is a song by rock band U2. It is the second track from their 1987 album The Joshua Tree and was released as the album's second single in May 1987. The song was a hit, becoming the band's second consecutive number-one single on the US Billboard Hot 100 after "With or Without You", while peaking at number six on the UK Singles Chart.

Like much of The Joshua Tree, the song was inspired by the group's interest in American music. "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" exhibits influences from gospel music and its lyrics describe spiritual yearning. Lead vocalist Bono's vocals are in high register and guitarist The Edge plays a chiming arpeggio. The song originated from a demo the group used to develop a unique drum pattern played by drummer Larry Mullen, Jr.

"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" was well-received by critics. It has subsequently become one of the group's most well-known songs and has been performed on many of their concert tours. The track has appeared on several of their compilations and concert films.

- Lyrics:

I have climbed highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you
I have run
I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing in her fingertips
It burned like a fire
This burning desire

I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

I believe in the Kingdom Come
Then all the colors will bleed into one
Bleed into one
But yes I'm still running

You broke the bonds
And you loosed the chains
Carried the cross
Of my shame
Oh my shame
You know I believe it

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

Neneh Cherry: "Buffalo Stance" (1988)

"Buffalo Stance" is a 1988 song that peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart recorded by Neneh Cherry from her album Raw Like Sushi, produced by Tim Simenon (from Bomb The Bass) and Mark Saunders.

An early version of the song appeared as the B-side on the 1986 single "Looking Good Diving" by duo Morgan-McVey, which was made up of Jamie Morgan and Cherry's future husband, Cameron McVey. The song, titled "Looking Good Diving With The Wild Bunch", was sung by Cherry and was produced by Stock Aitken & Waterman. Cherry also appears in the video of the song, playing guitar.

The title refers to Buffalo, a group of photographers, models, musicians, hair and makeup artists, etc. formed by fashion stylist Ray Petri, of whom Cherry, Morgan and McVey were all members. Thus the meaning is to stand like you are posing for a photo-shoot in a London fashion magazine in the 1980s. The song's name is also a reference to Malcolm McLaren's song "Buffalo Gals", which is sampled in "Buffalo Stance".

Cherry notably performed the song live on Top of the Pops while 8 months pregnant.

The song was also featured on the soundtrack of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City. Also, Westlife performed the song on the medley part of their Where the Dreams Come True Tour. It was also featured in the movie Slaves of New York which stars Bernadette Peters and directed by James Ivory.

- Lyrics:

Who's that gigolo on the street
With his hands in his pockets and his crocodile feet
Hanging off the curb, looking all disturbed
At the boys from home. They all came running
They were making noise, manhandling toys
That's the girls on the block with the nasty curls
Wearing padded bras sucking beers through straws
Dropping down their drawers, where did you get yours?

Gigolo, Huh, sukka?
Gigolo. Gigolo, Huh, sukka?

Chorus 1:

Who's looking good today?
Who's looking good in every way?
No style rookie
You better watch don't mess with me

Chorus 2:

No moneyman can win my love
It's sweetness that I'm thinking of.
We always hang in a Buffalo Stance
We do the dive every time we dance
I'll give you love baby not romance
I'll make a move nothing left to chance
So don't you get fresh with me

Get funky. Yeah Timmy.
Tell it like it is. Check out this DJ.

So you say you wanted money but you know it's never funny
When your shoes worn through and there's a rumble in your tummy
But you had to have style get a gold tooth smile
Put a girl on the corner so you can make a pile
Committed a crime and went inside
It was coming your way but you had to survive
When you lost your babe, you lost the race
Now you're looking at me to take her place.

Chorus 1

Smokin.' Not cokin.' Get funky sax.
Looking good, hanging with the wild bunch.
Looking good in a Buffalo Stance.
Looking good when it comes to the crunch
Looking good's a state of mind
State of mind don't look behind you
State of mind or you'll be dead
State of mind may I remind you
Bomb the Bass...rock this place!
What is he like? What's he like anway?
Yo' man what do you expect the guy's a gigolo man
You know I mean?

Chorus 2 (twice)

Wind on my face, sound in my ears
Water from my eyes, and you on my mind
As I sink, diving down deep...deeper into your soul.

Chorus 2 ...

Kaoma: "Lambada" (1989)

Kaoma was a pop group made up in France of former members of the band Touré Kunda: Chyco Dru (bassist), Jacky Arconte (guitarist), Jean-Claude Bonaventure (producer and keyboardist), Michel Abihssira (drums and percussion), Fania (vocals), and Loalwa Braz (lead singer), Chico and Roberta (dancers). Chyco Dru is from Martinique, Jacky Arconte from Guadeloupe, and Loalwa Braz from Brazil.

In 1989, they had a major chart-topping hit with their dance music single "Lambada," a direct cover of Brazilian singer-songwriter Márcia Ferreira's 1986 dance hit "Chorando se foi," which itself was a legally authorized Portuguese-translated rendition of the original 1981 slow ballad, "Llorando se fue" by the Bolivian group Los Kjarkas. Given Kaoma's clear act of plagiarism and release of their single without Los Kjarkas' permission, Los Kjarkas successfully sued. "Dançando Lambada" and "Mélodie d'amour" were the next two singles and were also hit singles, although they failed to earn the same success as "Lambada". "Lambada" peaked at #46 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It reached #4 in the UK Singles Chart.

The same year, the band released its first album Worldbeat which achieved worldwide success.

In 1991, Kaoma released the album Tribal-pursuit which provided the singles "Danca Tago-Mago" and "Moço do dende".

- Lyrics:

Chorando se foi quem um dia so me fez chorar
Chorando se foi quem um dia so me fez chorar

Chorando estara ao lembrar de um amor
Que um dia nao soube cuidar
Chorando estara ao lembrar de um amor
Que um dia nao soube cuidar

A recordacao vai estar com ele aonde for
A recordacao vai estar pra sempre aonde for

Danca sol e mar guardarei no olhar
O amor faz perder encontrar
Lambando estarei ao lembrar que este amor
Por um dia um instante foi rei

A recordacao vai estar com ele aonde for
A recordacao vai estar pra sempre aonde for

Chorando estara ao lembrar de um amor
Que um dia nao soube cuidar

Cancao riso e dor melodia de amor
Um momento que fica no ar

Losenta Lambada

Bon Jovi: "Welcome To Wherever You Are" (2005)

"Welcome to Wherever You Are" is a song by rock band Bon Jovi from their 2005 album, Have a Nice Day. It was released as the album's third single in the US, following "Have a Nice Day" and "Who Says You Can't Go Home", while worldwide it was released as the album's second single.

"Welcome to Wherever You Are" failed to gain success in the US, but it reached the top 40 in several European countries, including the UK (#19), Italy (#33) and Germany (#40). Speaking about the song on Larry King Live, Jon Bon Jovi said "I thought for sure this was going to be a universal, timeless theme song of unity, diversity. Not a hit, not even close. Swing and a miss."

"Welcome to Wherever You Are" is a song of affirmation, about accepting who you are and being comfortable in your own skin. Jon Bon Jovi claims the song is greatly influenced by events during the 2004 Presidential Election. Jon campaigned for John Kerry during that time. The song is also notable for being one of the few Bon Jovi songs lacking a guitar solo.

The song also shares its name with an episode of The West Wing's seventh season, in which Jon Bon Jovi appears endorsing the fictional presidential nomination Matt Santos.

- Lyrics:

Maybe we're different, but we're still the same
We all got the blood of Eden, running through our veins
I know sometimes it's hard for you to see
You come between just who you are and who you wanna be

If you feel alone, and lost and need a friend
Remember every new beginning, is some beginning's end

[Chorus]
Welcome to wherever you are
This is your life, you made it this far
Welcome, you gotta believe
That right here right now, you're exactly where you're supposed to be
Welcome, to wherever you are

When everybody's in, and you're left out
And you feel your drowning, in a shadow of a doubt
Everyones a miracle in their own way
Just listen to yourself, not what other people say

When it seems you're lost, alone and feeling down
Remember everybody's different
Just take a look around

[Chorus]

Be who you want to, be who you are
Everyones a hero, everyones a star

When you wanna give up, and your hearts about to break
Remember that you're perfect, God makes no mistakes

[Chorus]

- Lyrics:

Hey girl, is he everything you wanted in a man?
You know I gave you the world
You had me in the palm of your hand
So why your love went away
I just can't seem to understand
Thought it was me and you babe
Me and you until the end
But I guess I was wrong

Don't want to think about it
Don't want to talk about it
I'm just so sick about it
Can't believe it's ending this way
Just so confused about it
Feeling the blues about it
I just can't do without ya
Tell me is this fair?

Is this the way it's really going down?
Is this how we say goodbye?
Should've known better when you came around
That you were gonna make me cry
It's breaking my heart to watch you run around
'Cause I know that you're living a lie
That's okay baby 'cause in time you will find...

What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around

Now girl, I remember everything that you claimed
You said that you were moving on now
And maybe I should do the same
Funny thing about that is
I was ready to give you my name
Thought it was me and you, babe
And now, it's all just a shame
And I guess I was wrong

Don't want to think about it
Don't want to talk about it
I'm just so sick about it
Can't believe it's ending this way
Just so confused about it
Feeling the blues about it
I just can't do without ya
Can you tell me is this fair?

Is this the way it's really going down?
Is this how we say goodbye?
Should've known better when you came around (should've known better that you were gonna make me cry)
That you were going to make me cry
Now it's breaking my heart to watch you run around
'Cause I know that you're living a lie
That's okay baby 'cause in time you will find

What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around

What goes around comes around
Yeah
What goes around comes around
You should know that
What goes around comes around
Yeah
What goes around comes around
You should know that

Don't want to think about it (no)
Don't want to talk about it
I'm just so sick about it
Can't believe it's ending this way
Just so confused about it
Feeling the blues about it (yeah)
I just can't do without ya
Tell me is this fair?

Is this the way it's really going down?
Is this how we say goodbye?
Should've known better when you came around (should've known better that you were gonna make me cry)
That you were going to make me cry
Now it's breaking my heart to watch you run around
'Cause I know that you're living a lie
But that's okay baby 'cause in time you will find

What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around

[Comes Around interlude:]

Let me paint this picture for you, baby

You spend your nights alone
And he never comes home
And every time you call him
All you get's a busy tone
I heard you found out
That he's doing to you
What you did to me
Ain't that the way it goes

When you cheated girl
My heart bleeded girl
So it goes without saying that you left me feeling hurt
Just a classic case
A scenario
Tale as old as time
Girl you got what you deserved

And now you want somebody
To cure the lonely nights
You wish you had somebody
That could come and make it right

But girl I ain't somebody with a lot of sympathy
You'll see

(What goes around comes back around)
I thought I told ya, hey
(What goes around comes back around)
I thought I told ya, hey
(What goes around comes back around)
I thought I told ya, hey
(What goes around comes back around)
I thought I told ya, hey

[laughs]
See?
You should've listened to me, baby
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Because
(What goes around comes back around)
[laughs]

Radiohead: "Lotus Flower" (2011)

"Lotus Flower" is a song by the English alternative rock band Radiohead. It was released in 2011 on their eighth studio album The King of Limbs.

A music video was released on February 18, 2011 and features black-and-white footage of lead singer Thom Yorke dancing while singing the song. It was directed by Garth Jennings and choreographed by Wayne McGregor. The video was originally uploaded on the band's official YouTube channel on February 16, 2011.

The song was first played live during a tour with Thom Yorke's other band Atoms for Peace, on October 2, 2009 at the Echoplex in Los Angeles as a solo guitar and vocal piece.

- Lyrics:

I will shape myself into your pocket
Invisible
Do what you want
Do what you want

I will shrink and I will disappear
I will slip into the groove and cut me off
And cut me off

There's an empty space inside my heart
Where the weeds take root
And now I'll set you free
I'll set you free

There's an empty space inside my heart
Where the weeds take root
So now I'll set you free
I'll set you free

Slowly we unfurl
As lotus flowers
'Cos all I want is the moon upon a stick
Just to see what if
Just to see what is
I can't kick your habit
Just to fill your fast ballooning head
Listen to your heart

We will shrink and we'll be quiet as mice
And while the cat is away
Do what we want
Do what we want

There's an empty space inside my heart
Where the weeds take root
So now I'll set you free
I'll set you free

'Cos all I want is the moon upon a stick
Just to see what if
Just to see what is
The bird lights float into my room

Slowly we unfurl
As lotus flowers
'Cos all I want is the moon upon a stick
I dance around the pit
The darkness is beneath
I can't kick your habit
Just to feed your fast ballooning head
Listen to your heart

Player: "Baby Come Back" (1978)

"Baby Come Back" is a song by 1970s group Player from their self-titled second album of the same name. It was written by lead singer Peter Beckett and J.C. Crowley. The song was their biggest single, hitting number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 10 on the soul charts, in 1978. It was the breakthrough single for the band, gaining them mainstream success, and the only number-one hit of their career.

The song, whose key and structure are reminiscent of Hall & Oates' "She's Gone", is notable for its infectious riffs, and its memorable hook of "baby come back" during the chorus. The bass player is Ronn Moss, who has been appearing since 1987 on the daytime soap The Bold and the Beautiful (as Ridge Forrester).

- Lyrics:

Spending all my nights, all my money going out on the town
Doing anything just to get you off of my mind
But when the morning comes, I'm right back where I started again
Trying to forget you is just a waste of time

Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong, and I just can't live without you

All day long, wearing a mask of false bravado
Trying to keep up the smile that hides a tear
But as the sun goes down, I get that empty feeling again
How I wish to God that you were here

Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong, and I just can't live without you

Now that I put it all together
Give me the chance to make you see
Have you used up all the love in your heart
Nothing left for me, ain't there nothing left for me

Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, listen, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong, and I just can't live without you

I was wrong, and I just can't live

Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me

Tyga ft. Chris Richardson: "Far Away" (2011)

Michael Nguyen Stevenson, better known by his stage name Tyga (born November 19, 1989), is an American rapper and singer signed to Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Universal Motown Records. He first received recognition with his debut single "Coconut Juice".

- Lyrics:

[Chris Richardson]
Just to see her (see her)
But she’s far far away
And I’d do anything just to see her face
But she’s far far away
Walk a thousand miles just to see her smile again

[Tyga - verse 1]
Sittin’ on a plane
Reminscing back when I made that mistake
I wish it never ended with a heartbreak
Now your heart broken, tears in ya face
Ask myself why, looking at the sky
If I could turn back I’d make it all right
Praying that you better but its still stormy weather
Don’t wanna let go but the rain wont let up
Now you gone, still thinking bout you everyday
And I know feelings was hurt and you can blame me but
I’m sorry for the games that I played
But now it’s too late
And now she’s…

[Chris Richardson]
Now she’s far far away
And I’d do anything just to see her face
But she’s far far away
Walk a thousand miles just to see her smile again

[Tyga - verse 2]
It’s cold putting up a fight
Arguing back and forth through the night
Regardless what I said and I don’t most of it
You know I really love you, this the realest goin’ get
It take time to realise what you really wanna know
You was ready for it all but your feelings I ignored
I know my fault, I should’ve gave more
Now you’re miles away and I’m miles on tour
Now it’s drums playing, crowd singing
Light changing, wish you was here to witness all that
It starts fading
They say two wrongs don’t make it right
And I was wrong and now it aint right

[Chris Richardson]
Cause she’s far far away
And I’d do anything just to see her face
But she’s far far away
Walk a thousand miles just to see her smile again

[Tyga - bridge]
Na na na nah
If I could turn back
If I could make it right
I’d do just that
If I could make it right
I’d do it all tonight
Hold you in my arms, with you I’d spend my life

Na na na nah
If I could turn back
If I could make it right
I’d do just that
I’d do just that
If I could turn back

(Come back here again)

[Chris Richardson]
Cause she’s far far away
And I’d do anything just to see her face
But she’s far far away
Walk a thousand miles just to see her smile again

Anggun: "Snow On The Sahara" (1999)

The album contains 16 songs which are taken from the French version and re-recorded in English. Lyrics were translated and re-written by songwriter Nikki Matheson. Snow on the Sahara was marketed in 33 countries around the world in 1998. In Japan and Indonesia, the album was released in late 1997 under the title Anggun as a special version.

For some reason, "Memory of Your Shores" is omitted from the US version, although it has been cited as fans' favorite. Anggun also did a cover version of David Bowie's hit, "Life on Mars?", which was also released as a US promotional single.

This album remains Anggun's highest selling album and Anggun also made history as the first Asian artist to enter the Billboard Charts in the United States (Snow on the Sahara went to #23 on the Billboard Heatseekers Charts and the single peaked at #16 on the Adult Contemporary Chart). The album went on to sell 92,000 copies in the United States and has reportedly has sold over 1 million copies around the world, also marking Anggun as the highest selling Asian artist outside Asia.

The single "Snow on the Sahara" also remains Anggun's signature song (for fans outside France, Italy and Indonesia - who are more familiar with "Etre Une Femme/In Your Mind" or "Cesse La Pluie/Saviour"). It is Anggun's highest charting song (#1 in Italy) and was one of the biggest hits in 1997 and 1998. In Indonesia, "Snow on the Sahara" remains Anggun's most played song, even receiving frequent airplay on some radio stations in Indonesia in 2005.

With its enchanting ethnic beats and influences of adult contemporary, pop and rock sounds, Snow on the Sahara has also been described as "one of the greatest albums ever made" by fans, although it was not recognised by the critics. However, Allmusic gave the album 4 out of 5 stars, saying that Anggun "illustrates enough full-formed talent on the disc to make it a promising debut".

- Lyrics:

Only tell me that you still want me here
When you wander off out there
To those hills of dust and hard winds that blow
In that dry white ocean alone Lost out in the desert
you are lost out in the desert
But to stand with you in a ring of fire
I'll forget the days gone by
I'll protect your body and guard your soul
From mirages in your sight Lost out in the desert

If your hopes scatter like the dust across your track
I'll be the moon that shines on your path
The sun may blind our eyes, I'll pray the skies above
for snow to fall on the Sahara
If that's the only place where you can leave your doubts
I'll hold you up and be your way out

And if we burn away,
I'll pray the skies above for snow to fall on the Sahara

Just a wish and I will cover your shoulders
With veils of silk and gold
When the shadows come and darken your heart
Leaving you with regrets so cold Lost out in the desert

If your hopes scatter like the dust across your track
I'll be the moon that shines on your path
The sun may blind our eyes, I'll pray the skies above
for snow to fall on the Sahara
If that's the only place where you can leave your doubts
I'll hold you up and be your way out
And if we burn away,
I'll pray the skies above for snow to fall on the Sahara

Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue: "Where The Wild Roses Grow" (1995)

"Where the Wild Roses Grow" is an alternative-rock song written by Australian singer-songwriter Nick Cave for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' ninth album Murder Ballads (1996), with guest vocals by Australian pop-singer Kylie Minogue. The song was produced by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Tony Cohen and Victor Van Vugt and received a positive reception from music critics. The song was released as the album's first single in October 1995 and became the band's most successful single worldwide reaching #3 in Norway, the top five in Australia, and the top twenty in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany and New Zealand. It also received a limited promotional release in the United States.

According to wikipedia, the song was certified Gold in Germany in 1996 for 250,000 copies sold, despite never reaching the top ten in that country. It charted again at the bottom of the German Top 100 in 2008 because of digital downloads. "Where the Wild Roses Grow" was also certified Gold in Australia where it sold 50,000 copies.

Cave was inspired to write "Where the Wild Roses Grow" after listening to the traditional song, "Down in the Willow Garden", a tale of a man courting a woman and killing her while they are out together. Cave arranged this tale as second of two B-sides, "The Ballad of Robert Moore & Betty Coltrane" / "The Willow Garden", released on the CD-Maxi single version.

Although the song does not feature on a Minogue studio album, it can be found on her compilations Hits+, Greatest Hits 1987-1999 and Ultimate Kylie. Minogue performed a chorus of the song during her Showgirl and Homecoming tours.

- Lyrics:

They call me The Wild Rose
But my name was Elisa Day
Why they call me it I do not know
For my name was Elisa Day

From the first day I saw her I knew she was the one
As she stared in my eyes and smiled
For her lips were the colour of the roses
They grew down the river, all bloody and wild

When he knocked on my door and entered the room
My trembling subsided in his sure embrace
He would be my first man, and with a careful hand
He wiped the tears that ran down my face

CHORUS

On the second day I brought her a flower
She was more beautiful than any woman I'd seen
I said, 'Do you know where the wild roses grow
So sweet and scarlet and free?'

On the second day he came with a single rose
Said: 'Will you give me your loss and your sorrow?'
I nodded my head, as I layed on the bed
He said, 'If I show you the roses will you follow?'

CHORUS

On the third day he took me to the river
He showed me the roses and we kissed
And the last thing I heard was a muttered word
As he stood smiling above me with a rock in his fist

On the last day I took her where the wild roses grow
And she lay on the bank, the wind light as a thief
As I kissed her goodbye, I said, 'All beauty must die'
And lent down and planted a rose between her teeth

CHORUS

- Lyrics:

Now there was a time,
When they used to say,
That behind every great man,
There had to be a great woman,
But in these times of change,
You know it's no longer true,
So we're comin out the kitchen,
cause there's somethin we forgot to say to you yeah....

Sisters are doin it for themselves,
Standin on there own two feet,
And ringin on their own bell.

Now this is a song, (sing it Xena)
To celebrate yeah..............
That the concious liberation of the female state (oh its talkin bout a state of mind)
Mothers and daughters and their daughters to,
Women to women were singin with you. yeah.........

Sisters are doin it for themselves,
Standin on there own two feet,
And ringin on their own bell.

Oh we aint makin stories,
And we aint layin plans,
Cos a man still loves a women,
And the women still loves a man (that's just a sayin though)

Sisters are doin it for themselves,
Standin on there own two feet,
And ringin on their own bell. (oh ringin on my bell now)

Sisters are doin it for themselves,
Standin on there own two feet,
Oh....And ringin on their own bell.

Sisters are doin it for themselves,
Standin on there own two feet,
Oh....And ringin on their own bell.

Sisters are doin it for themselves,

Doris Day: "Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Que Sera)" (1956)

"Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)", first published in 1956, is a popular song which was written by the Jay Livingston and Ray Evans songwriting team.

The song was introduced in Alfred Hitchcock's 1956 film The Man Who Knew Too Much,[2] with Doris Day and James Stewart in the lead roles. Day's recording of the song for Columbia Records (catalog number 40704) was a hit in both the United States— where it made it to number two on the Billboard charts—and the United Kingdom. From 1968 to 1973, it was the theme song for the situation comedy The Doris Day Show, becoming her signature song.

According to wikipedia, the song reached the Billboard magazine charts in July 1956. The song received the 1956 Academy Award for Best Original Song with the alternative title "Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera)". It was the third Oscar in this category for Livingston and Evans, who previously won in 1948 and 1950.

- Lyrics:

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother, what will I be
Will I be pretty, will I be rich
Here's what she said to me.

Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

When I was young, I fell in love
I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows, day after day
Here's what my sweetheart said.

Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother, what will I be
Will I be handsome, will I be rich
I tell them tenderly.

Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

James Taylor & Carole King: "You've Got a Friend" (1971)

"You've Got a Friend" is a song from 1971. The song, written by Carole King, was included in her album Tapestry of 1971, but was made famous by James Taylor's cover version the same year. Taylor's rendition, released as a single from his own 1971 album Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon, reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. The James Taylor version also spent one week at the top of the Easy Listening charts [1]. "You've Got a Friend" won Grammy Awards both for Taylor (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance) and King (Song of the Year).

The song was recorded also during 1971 by Dusty Springfield, a recording that predates Taylor's version. It was recorded for her third album for Atlantic Records, but a dispute with the company meant the album was unreleased. The song was left unissued until 1999, when it was issued as a bonus track for the Rhino Records deluxe re-release of Dusty in Memphis.

- Lyrics:

When you're down and troubled
and you need a helping hand
and nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
and soon I will be there
to brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name,
and you know wherever I am
I'll come running, oh yeah baby
to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
all you have to do is call
and I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You've got a friend.

If the sky above you
should turn dark and full of clouds
and that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
and soon I will be knocking upon your door.

You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
all you got to do is call
and I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
James Taylor: Greatest Hits

Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend?
People can be so cold.
They'll hurt you and desert you.
Well they'll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don't you let them.

You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Oh babe, don't you know that,
Winter spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all you've got to do is call.
Lord, I'll be there, yes I will.
You've got a friend.
You've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.

You've got a friend.

A fool in love with you

Earth angel, earth angel
The one I adore
Love you forever and ever more

The vision of your love-loveliness
I hoped and I pray that someday
I'll be the vision of your hap-happiness

Earth angel, earth angel
Please be mine
My darling dear
Love you all the time
I'm just a fool
A fool in love with you

I fell for you and I knew
The vision of your loveliness
I hope and pray that someday
That I'll be the vision of your happiness

Please be mine
My darling dear

Everything But The Girl: "Missing" (1994)

Everything But The Girl - Missing
envoyé par Warner-Music. - Regardez d'autres vidéos de musique.

"Missing" is a song written and recorded by British pop music duo Everything but the Girl. The song was released as a single album from the band's 1994 album Amplified Heart. "Missing" is Everything But The Girl's best-known success and it is credited with revitalising the duo's musical career and changing the team's music to a successful electronic music style.

According to wikipedia, "Missing" was recorded as a relaxed-sounding guitar-based popular music song that had earned modest broadcasting airplay on U.S. Adult Contemporary radio. The duo gave the track to house music producer Todd Terry to remix for nightclubs. The resulting dance version of "Missing" became a worldwide success, matching Everything But the Girl's UK best chart score of number three in November 1995 and scoring number one on the German singles chart. The song became the duo's first U.S. Billboard Hot 100 entry, and after a long climb it peaked at number two during 1996 (in its twenty-eighth chart week), eventually scoring fifty-five weeks on the chart (a record at the time which has since been broken — the single is today the ninth-longest charting song on the U.S. Hot 100). One record it has retained is that "Missing" was the first ever single to spend an uninterrupted year on the U.S. Hot 100.

- Lyrics:

I step off the train
I'm walking down your street again
And pass your door
But you don't live there anymore
It's years since you've been there
Now you've disappeared somewhere
Like outer space
You've found some better place
And I miss you-
Like the deserts miss the rain
Could you be dead ?
You always were
Two steps ahead of everyone
We'd walk behind
While you would run
I look up at your house
And I can almost hear you
Shout down to me
Where I always used to be
And I miss you-
Like the deserts miss the rain
Back on the train
I ask
Why did I come again ?
Can I confess
I've been hanging'round
Your old address ?
And the years have proved
To offer nothing
Since you moved
You're long gone
But I can't move on
And I miss you-
Like the deserts miss the rain
