Inna Modja: "French Cancan" (2011)

Inna Modja, his real name is Inna Bocoum, is an african singer from Bamako, Mali.

- Lyrics:

I met this pretty boy in Paris
He used to tell me that I'm jolie
I couldn't say a word just
Coco Choco Chanel
Coco Chanel Chocolat

In my heart
In my veins
I just couldn't take him out of my brain
Just a glance
I'm in transe
This french fella was cute as hell

On my mind
In my bed
I just couldn't stop staring at him
Just a kiss
French kiss
I couldn't say a word just stuttering

Coco Choco Chanel Coco
Coco Choco Chanel and Chocolat

How stupid is that ?
I should tell him
Remember the night he came in my life

Monsieur Sainte Nitouche
Prends-moi par la main
Dis-moi des mots d'amour
Des mots qui me touchent
Monsieur Sainte Nitouche
Je suis enchantée

Monsieur Sainte Nitouche
Prends-moi par la taille
Caresse-moi l'épaule
Le creux de mes reins
Monsieur Sainte Nitouche
Ravie de te rencontrer

In my life
In my dreams
This man couldn't walk away from my hips
Just a bite
On my lips
I couldn't say a word just stuttering

Coco Choco Chanel Coco
Coco Choco Chanel and Chocolat

How stupid is that ?
I should tell him
Remember the night he came in my life

Monsieur Sainte Nitouche
Prends-moi par la main
Dis-moi des mots d'amour
Des mots qui me touchent
Monsieur Sainte Nitouche
Je suis enchantée

Monsieur Sainte Nitouche
Prends-moi par la taille
Caresse-moi l'épaule
Le creux de mes reins
Monsieur Sainte Nitouche
Ravie de te rencontrer

I met this pretty boy in Paris
He used to tell me that I'm jolie
I called this pretty man Mon Chéri
Coco Choco Chanel
Coco Chanel Chocolat

Monsieur Sainte Nitouche
Prends-moi par la main
Dis-moi des mots d'amour
Des mots qui me touchent
Monsieur Sainte Nitouche
Je suis enchantée

Monsieur Sainte Nitouche
Prends-moi par la taille
Caresse-moi l'épaule
Le creux de mes reins
Monsieur Sainte Nitouche

The B-side of the vinyl single was the song "It's a Feeling," which is also on the album Toto IV.

- Lyrics:

All I wanna do when I wake up in the morning is see your eyes
Rosanna, Rosanna
I never thought that a girl like you could ever care for me, Rosanna.

All I wanna do in the middle of the evening is hold you tight
Rosanna, Rosanna
I didn't know you were looking for more than I could ever be

Chorus:
Not quite a year since she went away, Rosanna yeah
Now she's gone and I have to say
Meet you all the way,
Meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah
Meet you all the way
Meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah

I can see your face still shining through the window on the other side
Rosanna, Rosanna
I didn't know that a girl like you could make me feel so sad, Rosanna

All I wanna tell you is now you'll never ever have to compromise
Rosanna, Rosanna
I never thought that losing you could ever hurt so bad

Chorus

(Instrumental break)

Chorus

Meet you all the way
Meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah
Meet you all the way
Meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah

One Direction: "What Makes You Beautiful" (2011)

One Direction is a British-Irish boyband, consisting of members Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne. They finished third on the seventh series of ITV reality talent show The X Factor. Following The X Factor, the group signed a £2 million record contract with Syco.

The band applied as solo candidates to the X Factor competition, but failed to qualify for the Boys category. After a suggestion by guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, the five teens were put into a band, thus qualifying for the Groups category. After the elimination of F.Y.D., Diva Fever and Belle Amie within four weeks they were Simon Cowell's last act in the competition. One Direction finished third behind runner up, Rebecca Ferguson and winner, Matt Cardle. Immediately after the series finished, their single "Forever Young", which would have been what they would have released if they had won, was leaked onto the internet.

Each of the five members applied as solo contestants, but failed to qualify for the Boys category. After a suggestion by guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, the five teens were put into a band, thus qualifying for the Groups category.

* Band Members:

* Niall Horan: Born 13 September 1993 from Mullingar, Westmeath, Ireland, a student at Coláiste Mhuire, Mullingar.

* Zayn Malik: Born 12 January 1993? from West Lane Baildon, Bradford, England a student at Tong High School. He is of Pakistani descent. His audition was initially not shown, but was shown after the series ended on companion show Xtra Factor. Malik was noted for becoming nervous in bootcamp, and when he was told he had to dance, he decided to remain backstage, effectively running the risk of elimination. Cowell noticed Malik missing from the dance routine and went backstage and convinced him to return.

* Liam Payne: Born 29 August 1993, from Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England, a music technology student at City of Wolverhampton College. Payne had auditioned in 2008 to The X Factor's fifth series when he was 14 and reached judges' houses, but Cowell thought he was not ready for the competition and asked him to come back in two years. This time Payne auditioned singing "Cry Me a River" and received a standing ovation from the audience and Simon Cowell.

* Harry Styles: Born 1 February 199, from Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, England, a student at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School. Styles was the lead singer for the band White Eskimo with band members lead guitarist Haydn Morris, bass guitarist Nick Clough and drummer Will Sweeny. Styles auditioned with "Isn't She Lovely" and recieved positive comments from two of the three judges present at his audition, with Louis Walsh having doubts on whether he was ready to progress in the competition. At bootcamp, he sang "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" before being rejected and put into One Direction.

* Louis Tomlinson: Born 24 December 1991, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, is a student at Hall Cross School.

- Lyrics:

Liam:
You're insecure
Don't know what for
You're turning heads when you walk through the door
Don't need make up
To cover up
Being the way that you are is enough

Harry:
Everyone else in the room can see it
Everyone else but you-ou-ou

Chorus:
Baby you light up my world like nobody else
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed
But you when smile at the ground it aint hard to tell
You don't know (oh oh)
You don't know you're beautiful!
If only you saw what I can see
You'll understand why I want you so desperately
Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe
You don't know (oh oh)
You don't know you're beautiful!
(Oh oh)
That's what makes you beautiful!

Zayn:
So c-come on
You got it wrong
To prove I'm right I put it in a so-o-ong
I don't why
You're being shy
And turn away when I look into your eye eye eyes

Harry:
Everyone else in the room can see it
Everyone else but you

(Oh oh)
That's what makes you beautiful

Bridge:
Nana (chant)

Harry:
Baby you light up my world like nobody else
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed
But you when smile at the ground it aint hard to tell

- Lyrics:

Dream on
Though it's hard to tell
Though you're foolin' yourself
Dream on

You can hide away
There is nothing to say, so dream on
Dream on
Though it's hard to tell
Though you're foolin' yourself, dream on

You can laugh at me because I'm crying
You can tell your friends how much
I begged you to stay
You can live your fantasy without me
But you'll never know how much I needed you

Dream on
It's so easy for you
Though I'm broken in two, dream on
Dream on
You can never see
What you're doing to me, so dream on

You can cross your heart and still be lyin'
You can count the reasons why you've thrown it away
You can dream your life away without me
But you'll never know how much I needed you

You can laugh at me because I'm crying
You can tell your friends how much
I begged you to stay
You can live your fantasy without me
But you'll never know how much I needed you

Dream on
It's so easy for you
Though I'm broken in two, dream on
Dream on
You can never see
What you're doin' to me, so dream on
Dream on
Though it's hard to tell
Though you're foolin' yourself,dream on

Murray Head: "One Night in Bangkok" (1984)

"One Night in Bangkok" is a song originally sung by the British actor and Pop-dance singer Murray Head on the 1984 concept album for the musical Chess. Its music was composed by former ABBA members Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, with lyrics written by Tim Rice & Björn Ulvaeus.

The release topped the charts in many countries, including South Africa, West Germany, Switzerland and Australia. It peaked at #3 in both Canada and the United States in May, 1985, and at #12 in Head's native United Kingdom.

In 1985, Thailand's Mass Communications Organization banned One Night in Bangkok, saying its lyrics "cause misunderstanding about Thai society and show disrespect towards Buddhism."

- Lyrics:

(The American:)
Bangkok, Oriental city
But the city don't know what the city is getting
The creme de la creme of the chess world
In a show with everything but Yul Brynner

Time flies, doesn't seem a minute
since the Terelian Spa had the chess boys in it
All change, don't you know that when you
Play at this level there's no ordinary venue

It's Iceland, or the Philippines, or Hastings
Or....or this place!

(Company:)
One night in Bangkok
And the world's your oyster
The bars are temples
But their pearls ain't free

You'll find a god in every golden cloister
And if you're lucky, then the god's a she
I can feel an angel sliding up to me

(The American:)

One town's very like another
When your head's down over your pieces, brother

(Company:)

It's a drag, it's a bore, it's really such a pity
When you're looking at the board

not looking at the city

(The American:)

Whattaya mean?!
You've seen one crowded, polluted,
stinking town...

(Company:)

T-girls, warm and sweet
Some are set up in the Somerset Maugham Suite

(The American:)
Get Thai-ed, you're talking to a tourist
Whose every move's among the purest
I get my kicks ABOVE the waistline, sunshine!

(Company:)
One night in Bangkok
Makes the hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy

One night in Bangkok
And the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walking next to me

(The American:)
Siam's going to be the witness
To the ultimate test of cerebral fitness
This grips me more than would a muddy ol' river or reclining Buddha

Thank God I'm only watching the game, controlling it

I don't see you guys rating
The kind of mate I'm contemplating
I'd let you watch, I would invite you
But the queens WE use would not excite you.

So, you better go back to your bars,
Your temples, your "massage parlors"...

(Company:)
One night in Bangkok
And the world's your oyster
The bars are temples
But their pearls ain't free

You'll find a god in every golden cloister
A little flesh, a little history
I can feel an angel sliding up to me

One night in Bangkok
Makes the hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy

One night in Bangkok
And the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walking next to me

Boys, boys, boys
Boys, boys, boys
Boys, boys, boys
Boys, boys, boys

Sunshine down
So come to town
Set your body free
Hold me tight

Tell me you believe

Everybody, summertime love
You'll remember me
Everybody, summertime love
Be my lover, be my baby

Boys, boys, boys
I'm looking for a good time
Boys, boys, boys
Get ready for my love

Boys, boys, boys
I'm looking for the good time
Boys, boys, boys
I'm ready for your love

Stay around
The sound goes down
Gave our feelings right
Take a chance
We'll love romance
Have some fun tonight

Everybody, summertime love
You'll remember me
Everybody, summertime love
Be my lover, be my baby

Boys, boys, boys
I'm looking for a good time
Boys, boys, boys
Get ready for my love

Boys, boys, boys
I'm looking for the good time
Boys, boys, boys
I'm ready for your love

Boys and girls and summertime love
Summertime love I'm the beast tonight
Say hey, say you, say me, say what
Everybody is got a cup
Don't stop, don't move
I just catch your body in the room
I said hey, I said who
I said me, I said you get a groove

Boys, boys, boys
In summertime love, in summertime love
Boys, boys, boys
Let's summertime love, let's summertime love
Boys, boys, boys
In summertime love, in summertime love
Boys, boys, boys
Let's summertime love, let's summertime love

Everybody, summertime love
You'll remember me
Everybody, summertime love
Be my lover, be my baby

Boys, boys, boys
I'm looking for a good time
Boys, boys, boys
Get ready for my love

Boys, boys, boys
I'm looking for the good time
Boys, boys, boys
I'm ready for your love

MC Hammer: "U Can't Touch This" (1989)

"U Can't Touch This" is M.C. Hammer's 1989 super hit signature song, from his album Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em. The album sold more than 10 million copies, due primarily to this single, and gaining multi-platinum certifications from the RIAA, and other Recording Industries.

Rick James sued Hammer for infringement of copyright, as the song basically consists of the prominent opening riff of "Super Freak", which is constantly repeated throughout. The suit was settled out of court when Hammer agreed to credit James as co-composer, effectively cutting James in on the millions of dollars the record was earning. James was accordingly credited as a co-author.

The song received its debut live performance on a late 1989 episode of The Arsenio Hall Show. The lyrics describe the rapper as having "toured around the world, from London to the Bay" and as being "magic on the mic", which Hammer says combines with Rick James' "beat that you can't touch". It secured the Grammy Awards for Best R&B Song and Best Rap Solo Performance in 1991, a brand new category at the time. The song was a huge success chart wise: it reached #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single was also a big success in other parts of the world, peaking at #1 in Australia, the Netherlands and Sweden, and #3 on the UK singles chart.

A 1990 compilation album of then-current chart hits was released in Australia by EMI under this title, which also featured the song as the first track. The German translation Halt! Hammerzeit is a known internet meme. "Weird Al" Yankovic's parody of the song, "I Can't Watch This", overlaid lyrics about bad TV-watching over the song's music track.

In 2003, Beam and Cyrus did a remix of "U Can't Touch This" featuring M.C. Hammer.

The song's lyrics and catchphrases became common pop culture references, making sometimes obvious, sometimes subtle appearances on TV, movies, and pop culture generally. "You can't touch this" and "Stop... Hammer time!" in particular, were widely used. Hammertime, from a lyric in the song, became the title of a reality show, featuring M.C. Hammer, on the A&E Network in the summer of 2009.

During 2008, the song ranked as number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop and number 16 on their list of 100 Greatest Songs of the '90s.

Most recently, in 2010, the song ranked as #6 on AOL Radio's list of the 100 Worst Songs Ever, with Matthew Wilkening telling the late Rick James in spirit: "If someone did this to your wonderful work of music, you might choose crack, too."

- Lyrics:

You can't touch this (Repeat 5x)

My, my, my, my music hits me so hard
Makes me say "Oh my Lord"
Thank you for blessing me
With a mind to rhyme and two hyped feet
It feels good, when you know you're down
A super dope homeboy from the Oaktown
And I'm known as such
And this is a beat, uh, you can't touch

I told you homeboy (You can't touch this)
Yeah, that's how we're living and you know (You can't touch this)
Look in my eyes, man (You can't touch this)
Yo, let me bust the funky lyrics (You can't touch this)

Fresh new kicks, and pants
You got it like that, now you know you wanna dance
So move, outta your seat
And get a fly girl and catch this beat
While it's rolling, hold on
Pump a little bit and let 'em know it's going on
Like that, like that
Cold on a mission so pull on back
Let 'em know, that you're too much
And this is a beat, uh, you can't touch

Yo, I told you (You can't touch this)
Why you standing there, man? (You can't touch this)
Yo, sound the bell, school is in, sucka (You can't touch this)

Give me a song, or rhythm
Make 'em sweat, that's what I'm giving 'em
Now, they know
When you talk about the Hammer you talk about a show
That's hyped, and tight
Singers are sweating so pass them a mic
Or a tape, to learn
What it's gonna take in the 90's to burn
The charts? Legit
Either work hard or you might as well quit

That's the word because you know...

You can't touch this (Repeat 2x)

Break it down! (Music breaks down) Stop, Hammer time!

Go with the flow, it is said
That if you can't groove to this then you probably are dead
So wave your hands in the air
Bust a few moves, run your fingers through your hair
This is it, for a winner
Dance to this and you're gonna get thinner
Move, slide your rump
Just for a minute let's all do the bump, bump, bump, bump

Yeah... (You can't touch this)
Look, man (You can't touch this)
You better get hyped, boy, because you know (You can't touch this)
Ring the bell, school's back in

Break it down! (Music breaks down) Stop, Hammer time!

You can't touch this (Repeat 3x)

Break it down! (Music breaks down) Stop, Hammer time!

Every time you see me
The Hammer's disco hype
I'm dope on the floor and I'm magic on the mic
Now why would I ever stop doing this?
With others making records that just don't hit
I've toured around the world, from London to the Bay
It's "Hammer, go Hammer, MC Hammer, yo Hammer"
And the rest can go and play

You can't touch this (Repeat 7x)

Christina Perri: "Jar of Hearts" (2010)

"Jar of Hearts" is the debut single by American singer-songwriter Christina Perri. The song was released onto iTunes July 27, 2010, a week after its debut on So You Think You Can Dance. The song was included on Perri's debut EP The Ocean Way Sessions and appeared on Perri's debut album, lovestrong.

The song was written by Drew Lawrence, Barrett Yeretsian, and the song's performer, Christina Perri. The track was produced by Perri and Yeretsian and Mixed by Malcolm Welsford. After its debut, the song was released onto iTunes where it later rose to the Top 20 spot in one week.

Perri was unsigned at the time of the song release, which created a lot of discussion between critics who favored the song. The song charted on multiple charts in both the United States and Canada at numbers 17 and 36 respectively. The song sold a total of 47,500 downloads in its opening week. It was later registered double platinum by the RIAA.

- Lyrics:

And no, I cant take one more step towards you
Cause all thats waiting is regret
And dont you know im not your ghost anymore
You lost the love
I loved the most

And learn to live half a life
And now you want me one more time

Who do you think you are
runnin round leaving scars
Collecting your Jar Of Hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So dont come back for me
Who do you think you are
I hear youre asking all around
You find anywhere to be found
But I have grown to strong
To ever fall back in your arms

And learn to live half a life
And now you want me one more time

Who do you think you are
runnin round leaving scars
Collecting your Jar Of Hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So dont come back for me
Who do you think you are
It took so long just to feel alright
Remember how to put the light back in my eyes
I wish I had missed the first time that we kissed
Cause you broke all you're promises

And now you're back
Youre looking to get me back
And now you want me one more time

Who do you think you are
runnin round leaving scars
Collecting your Jar Of Hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So dont come back for me
Dont come back at all
And now you want me one more time
Who do you think you are?
Runnin round leaving scars
Collecting your Jar Of Hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
Dont come back for me
Dont come back at all

Who do you think you are?

Who do you think you are?

Who do you think you are?

"This Is I Promise You" is part of "Bring You Home", the fourth studio album by Irish singer/songwriter Ronan Keating. It was released by Polydor Records, on 5 June 2006. It was his last studio album before he returned to newly-reformed Boyzone.

My love, here I stand before you
I am yours now
From this moment on
Take my hand
Only you can stop me shaking
We'll share forever
This I promise you

And when I look in your eyes
All of my life is before me
And I'm not running anymore
Cause I already know I'm home
With every beat of my heart
I give you my love completely
My darling, this I promise you

My love, I can feel your heartbeat
As we dance now
Closer than before
Don't let go
Don't let go
Cause I can almost cry now
This is forever
I make this vow to you

And when I look in your eyes
All of my life is before me
And I'm not running anymore
Cause I already know I'm home
With every beat of my heart
I give you my love completely
My darling, this I promise you
My darling, this I promise you
This I promise you, oh I promise you, promise you
This I promise you

Commodores: "Sail On" (1979)

The Commodores is an American funk/soul band of the 1970s and 1980s. The members of the group met as mostly freshmen at Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University) in 1968, and signed with Motown in November 1972, having first caught the public eye opening for The Jackson 5 while on tour. The Commodores have sold over 75 million records worldwide.

- Lyrics:

Sail on, down the line
About half a mile or so
And I don't really wanna know ah
Where you're going
Maybe once or twice you see
Time after time I tried
Hold on to what we got
But now you're going
And I don't mind
About the things you're gonna say
Lord, I gave all my money and my time
I know it's a shame
But I'm giving you back your name
Guess I'll be on my way
I won't be back to stay
I guess I'll move along
I'm looking for a good time
Sail on down the line
Ain't it funny how the time can go
All my friends say they told me so
But it doesn't matter
It was plain to see
That a small town boy like me
Just I wasn't your cup of tea
I was wishful thinking
I gave you my heart
And I tried ot make you happy
And you gave me nothing in return
You know it ain't so hard to say
Would you please just go away
I've thrown away the blues
I'm tired of being used
I want everyone to know
I'm looking for a good time
Good time
Sail on honey
Good times never felt so good
Sail on honey
Good times never felt so good
Sail on sugar
Good times never felt so good
Sail on

David Soul: "Don't Give Up On Us" (1977)

"Don't Give Up on Us" is a song by David Soul.

Riding high on the success of playing in the hit TV show Starsky and Hutch, Soul returned to one of his early career choices as a singer. His debut, the Tony Macaulay written and produced "Don't Give Up on Us" was a worldwide smash, spending four weeks at #1 on the UK Singles Chart in January and February 1977 and a single week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 1977. In addition, the song spent one week at #1 on the U.S. adult contemporary chart.

"Don't Give Up on Us" was rated #93 in VH1's 100 Greatest One-hit Wonders (though Soul had several more hits, including a second no.1, in the UK). Soul recorded a new version of the song in 2004, allegedly after being embarrassed when hearing it by chance in an elevator as sung by Owen Wilson in the film version of Starsky and Hutch.

Zsa Zsa Padilla revived this in 1998, making it the first Filipino revival. Piolo Pascual also covered this song for the soundtrack of the same movie title in the Philippines.

- Lyrics:

Don't give up on us, baby
Don't make the wrong seem right
The future isn't just one night
It's written in the moonlight
Painted on the stars
We can't change ours

Don't give up on us, baby
We're still worth one more try
I know we put a last one by
Just for a rainy evening
When maybe stars are few
Don't give up on us, I know
We can still come through

I really lost my head last night
You've got a right to start believin'
There's still a little love left, even so

Don't give up on us, baby
Lord knows we've come this far
Can't we stay the way we are?
The angel and the dreamer
Who sometimes plays a fool
Don't give up on us, I know
We can still come through

It's written in the moonlight
Painted on the stars
We can't change ours

Don't give up on us, baby
We're still worth one more try
I know we put a last one by
Just for a rainy evening
When maybe stars are few
Don't give up on us, I know
We can still come through

Don't give up on us, baby
Don't give up on us, baby

Lou Reed: "This Magic Moment"

"This Magic Moment" is the title of a song composed by lyricist Doc Pomus and pianist Mort Shuman. It is one of their best known successes. It was recorded first by Ben E. King with The Drifters and scored number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 during 1960. It was recorded by Jay and the Americans during 1969 and scored number 6, earning gold record status.

The song was recorded as a cover version by Lou Reed on a Doc Pomus tribute album entitled 'Till the Night is Gone, and later featured in David Lynch's Lost Highway. It was also covered by horror punk music band The Misfits for the album Project 1950.

- Lyrics:

This magic moment
So different and so new
Was like any other
Until I met you
And then it happened
It took me by suprise
I knew that you felt it too
I could see it by the look in your eyes

Sweeter than wine
Softer than a summer's night
Everything I want, I have
Whenever I hold you tight

This magic moment,
While your lips are close to mine,
Will last forever,
Forever, 'til the end of time

So why won't you dance with me?
Why won't you dance with me?

This magic moment
So different and so new
Was like any other
Until I met you

And then it happened
It took me by suprise
I knew that you felt it too
I could see it by the look in your eyes

Sweeter than wine
Softer than a summer's night
Everything I want, I have
Whenever I hold you tight

Vertical Horizon: "Everything You Want" (1999)

"Everything You Want" is a song by Vertical Horizon from the 1999 album Everything You Want. The single reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 after a 21-week climb on July 15, 2000. The song is arguably Vertical Horizon's best-known single. This song is also featured acoustically on the 2008 album Duo which features both Matt Scannell and pop rock singer, songwriter Richard Marx.

- Lyrics:

Somewhere there's speaking
It's already coming in
Oh and it's rising at the back of your mind
You never could get it
Unless you were fed it
Now you're here and you don't know why

But under skinned knees and the skid marks
Past the places where you used to learn
You howl and listen
Listen and wait for the
Echoes of angels who won't return

Chorus
He's everything you want
He's everything you need
He's everything inside of you
That you wish you could be
He says all the right things
At exactly the right time
But he means nothing to you
And you don't know why

You're waiting for someone
To put you together
You're waiting for someone to push you away
There's always another wound to discover
There's always something more you wish he'd say

Chorus

But you'll just tight
And watch it unwind
It's only what you're asking for
And you'll be just fine
With all of your time
It's only what you're waiting for

Out of the island
Into the highway
Past the places where you might have turned
You never did notice
But you still hide away
The anger of angels who won't return

Chorus
I am everything you want
I am everything you need
I am everything inside of you
That you wish you could be
I say all the right things
At exactly the right time
But I mean nothing to you and I don't know why
And I don't know why
Why
I don't know

Robert PALMER: "Addicted To Love"

Robert Allen Palmer, 19 January 1949 – 26 September 2003, born in Batley, Yorkshire, was a Grammy Award winning English singer-songwriter. He was known for his distinctive voice and the eclectic mix of musical styles on his albums, combining soul, jazz, rock, pop, Reggae and blues.

He found success both in his solo career and in the supergroup Power Station, and had Top 10 songs in both the US and the UK. His iconic music videos for the hits "Simply Irresistible" and "Addicted to Love", featured identically dressed dancing women with pale faces, dark eye makeup and bright red lipstick, which resembled the women in the art of Patrick Nagel, an artist popular in the 1980s.

Sharp-suited, his involvement in the music industry commenced in the 1960s, covered five decades and included a spell with Vinegar Joe.

- Lyrics:

Songwriter: Palmer, Robert Allan

The lights are on, but you’re not home
your mind is not your own
your heart sweats, your body shakes
another kiss is what it takes

You can’t sleep, you can’t eat
there’s no doubt, you’re in deep
your throat is tight, you can’t breathe
another kiss is all you need

Whoa, you like to think that you’re immune to the stuff, oh Yeah
it’s closer to the truth to say you can’t get enough,
you know you’re gonna have to face it, you’re addicted to love

you see the signs, but you can’t read
you’re running at a different speed
your heart beats in double time
another kiss and you’ll be mine, a one-track mind

you can’t be saved
oblivion is all you crave
if there’s some left for you
you don’t mind if you do

whoa, you like to think that you’re immune to the stuff, oh Yeah
it’s closer to the truth to say you can’t get enough,
you know you’re gonna have to face it, you’re addicted to love

Might als well face it, you’re addicted to love 5 x

your lights are on, but you’re not home
your will is not your own
your heart sweats your teeth grind
another kiss and you’ll be mine

whoa, you like to think that you’re immune to the stuff, oh Yeah
it’s closer to the truth to say you can’t get enough,
you know you’re gonna have to face it, you’re addicted to love

might als well face it, you’re addicted to love 8 x

George Michael & Aretha Franklin: "I knew you were waiting"

"I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)" was a song performed by Aretha Franklin and George Michael in a duet in 1987. It was written by Simon Climie and Dennis Morgan.

The song was a one-off project that helped Michael achieve his ambition to sing with one of his favourite artists, and it reached number one in both the UK Singles Chart and Billboard's Hot 100. The song was, remarkably, Franklin's first and only UK number-one hit, and only her fourth top ten achievement in the country since "I Say a Little Prayer", nearly two decades earlier. This was also the last of Franklin's eighteen Top 10 hits in the Billboard Hot 100.

For Michael, it became his third consecutive number-one in the UK since going solo, following 1984's "Careless Whisper" (though the single was actually from the Wham! album Make It Big) and 1986's "A Different Corner". However, as the song was a duet, he was not afforded the same status or level of congratulation as Gerry & The Pacemakers or Frankie Goes to Hollywood, the only two artists to have previously achieved number one with their first three releases. Michael's previous success (with Wham!, which included four number-ones) was also a factor in watering down the achievement.

The single was the first Michael had recorded (as a lead artist) which he had not written himself. The co-writer, Simon Climie, was unknown at the time, although he later had success as a performer with Climie Fisher in 1988.

The continuous run of UK chart-toppers ended for Michael thereafter, with his next number-one coming in 1991 - again as part of a duet (this time with Elton John) - while his next entirely solo number-one in the UK didn't appear until 1996.

On the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)" debuted at #59, the week of February 21, 1987, reaching #1 in its ninth week, April 18, 1987, and remaining there for two consecutive weeks.

- Lyrics:

Like a warrior that fights
And wins the battle
I know the taste of victory
Though i went through some nights
Consumed by the shadows
I was crippled emotionally
Somehow i made it through the heartache
Yes i did. I escaped.
I found my way out of the darkness
I kept my faith (i know you did), kept my faith

When the river was deep i didn't falter
When the mountain was high i still believed
When the valley was !ow it didn't stop me, no no
I knew you were waiting. I knew you were waiting for me

With an endless desire i kept on searching
Sure in time our eyes would meet
Like the bridge is on fire
The hurt is over, one touch and you set me free
I don't regret a single moment, no i don't looking hack
When i think of all those disappointments
I just laugh (i know you do), i just laugh

When the river was deep i didn't fairer
When the mountain was high i still believed
When the valley was low it didn't stop me
I knew you were waiting. I knew you were waiting for me

So we were drawn together through destiny
I know this love we snared was meant to be
I knew you were waiting, knew you were waiting
I knew you were waiting , knew you were waiting for me

- Lyrics:

Unchain my heart baby let me be
Cause you don't care please set me free

Unchain my heart
Baby let me go
Unchain my heart
Cause you don't love me no more
Every time I call you on the phone
Some fella tells me your not at home
Unchain my heart set me free

Unchain my heart
Baby let me be
Unchain my heart
Cause you don't care about me
You got me sewed up like a pillow case
But you let my love go to waist
Unchain my heart set me free

I'm under your spell
Like a man in a trance
You know darn well that I don't stand a chance
Unchain my heart let me go my way
Unchain my heart you worry me night and day
I live a life of misery
And you don't care a bag of beans for me
Unchain my heart set me free

Solo

I'm under your spell
Like a man in a trance
You know darn well that I don't stand a chance
Unchain my heart let me go my way
Unchain my heart you worry me night and day
I live a life of misery
And you don't care a bag of beans for me
Unchain my heart set me free

Sinead O'Connor: "Nothing Compares To You"

Sinéad Marie Bernadette O'Connor, born 8 December 1966, is an Irish singer-songwriter. She rose to fame in the late 1980s with her debut album The Lion and the Cobra and achieved worldwide success in 1990 with a cover of the song "Nothing Compares 2 U".

Since then, she has regularly courted controversy with her outspokenness, shorn head, and views on religion, women's rights, war and her own sexuality, while still maintaining a singing career.

Her body of work includes a number of collaborations with other artists and appearances at charity fundraising concerts, in addition to her own solo albums.

- Lyrics:

It's been seven hours and fifteen days
Since you took your love away
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away
Since you been gone I can do whatever I want
I can see whomever I choose
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
But nothing
I said nothing can take away these blues
`Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

It's been so lonely without you here
Like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
Tell me baby where did I go wrong
I could put my arms around every boy I see
But they'd only remind me of you
I went to the doctor n'guess what he told me
Guess what he told me
He said girl u better try to have fun
No matter what you'll do
But he's a fool
`Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

all the flowers that you planted, mama
In the back yard
All died when you went away
I know that living with you baby was sometimes hard
But I'm willing to give it another try
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

John Denver: Country Roads

"Take Me Home, Country Roads" is a song written by Bill Danoff, Taffy Nivert, and John Denver and and initially recorded by John Denver. It was included on his 1971 breakout album Poems, Prayers and Promises; the single went to #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

After many other hit singles, "Take Me Home, Country Roads" remained Denver's signature song. It also has a prominent status as an iconic symbol of West Virginia; for example, it was played at the funeral memorial for Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) in July 2010.

- Lyrics:

Songwriters: Danoff, Bill; Nivert, Taffy; Denver, John; Deutschendorf, John;

Almost heaven, west virginia
Blue ridge mountains, shenandoah river
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze

Country roads, take me home
To the place, I be-long
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads

All my mem’ries, gather ’round her
Miner’s lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

Country roads, take me home
To the place, I be-long
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads

I hear her voice, in the mornin’ hours she calls to me
The radio reminds me of my home far a-way
And drivin’ down the road I get a feeling’
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday

Country roads, take me home
To the place, I be-long
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
