Janis Joplin: "Cry Baby" (live in toronto 1970)
"Cry Baby" is a song originally recorded by Garnet Mimms and the Enchanters, in 1963, and later famously covered by rock singer Janis Joplin. Berns wrote song together with Jerry Ragovoy and group recorded it for United Artists record label. It topped the R&B chart and went to #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1963, and paved the way for soul hits by Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding later in the decade.
In September and October 1970, Janis Joplin recorded it for her album Pearl, posthumously released. The song was in blues-rock style and its producer was Paul A. Rothchild. B-side of the track was hit "Mercedes Benz". Joplin's recording is also the most popular version of it.
The song became usual on Joplin's repertoire and today is often performed by many artists such as Joss Stone, Allison Iraheta, Magdolna Rúzsa and other.
- Lyrics:
rehearsals
Cry-y-y ... ha ha ha ha ... baby, cry baby, cry baby,
Welcome back home.
I know she told you,
I know she told you that she loved you
Much more than I do,
But I know she left you,
And you swear that you just don't know why,
Well, you know that I'll always be round
If you ever want me
Come on and cry, cry baby, cry baby, cry baby, yeah,
Oh, like you always seem to do.
Don't you know,
Honey, nobody ever gonna love you
The way I try to do.
Who'll be willing to take your pain
And all your heartache, too ?
Honey, I swear I'll always, I'll always be around
If you ever want me
Come on and cry, cry baby, cry baby yeah, cry baby, yeah,
Oh daddy, welcome back home, yeah.
I know when you're sharp and round, babe,
Seems like the grass always looks greener,
When you're looking over there in somebody else's back-yard
So I know what you're tryin' to tell me
When you say, mama, mama, mama, mama, mama,
I've gotta go out shopping for my life
I've gotta find my, my own true third eye,
Hare Krishna identity out there on the road there.
And although it may be comfortable here
Sleeping in all your nice bed with all those satin sheets
And all that nice fur, eatin' all that chicken
Gettin' stoned, havin' a good time I have to go and rough it
I have to go to Africa
Or I have to go to Omaha, or some place like that,
I have to find myself, you know what I mean ?
So there's this stud, man, walkin' around the fuckin' highways of America with a pack on his back
Lookin' for his identity, right ?
Well, I want to say baby don't you know you left your mama here all alone ?
You left your good lovin' mama right at home
And that should be identity enough for any man, ha ha ha!
So I said baby, I know that you're gonna come home to me some day
And I'll be able to tell when you walk in my front door
I do, I just do believe that I can be lookin' in your eyes
So Lord, you finally realize
So you can put your head on my shoulder, babe,
'Cause I know you got some more tears to share,
Come on, let it go,
So come on, come on, come on, come on, come on,
Honey, cry, cry baby, cry baby, cry,
Honey when you got some more tears to shed
Honey I won't let a man stand in your way, babe,
You have to snap all your fear from the door house away dear
You just gotta let it go, baby, come on,
Honey cry, oh, cry to me baby.
Is it a hit or a miss ?

Beck: "Loser" (1993)
"Loser" is a song by the American alternative rock singer Beck. It was written by Beck and record producer Carl Stephenson, who both produced the song with Tom Rothrock. "Loser" was initially released as Beck's second single by independent record label Bong Load Custom Records on 12" vinyl format with catalogue number BL5 on March 8, 1993.
When it was first released independently, "Loser" began receiving airplay on various modern rock stations, and the song's popularity eventually led to a major-label record deal with Geffen Records-subsidiary DGC Records. After the song's re-release under DGC, the song peaked at #10 on the United States Billboard Hot 100 in April 1994, becoming Beck's first single to hit a major chart. The song was subsequently released on the 1994 album Mellow Gold.
- Lyrics:
In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey
Butane in my veins and I’m out to cut the junkie
With the plastic eyeballs, spray-paint the vegetables
Dog food stalls with the beefcake pantyhose
Kill the headlights and put it in neutral
Stock car flamin’ with a loser and the cruise control
Baby’s in reno with the vitamin d
Got a couple of couches, sleep on the love-seat
Someone came sayin’ I’m insane to complain
About a shotgun wedding and a stain on my shirt
Don’t believe everything that you breathe
You get a parking violation and a maggot on your sleeve
So shave your face with some mace in the dark
Savin’ all your food stamps and burnin’ down the trailer park
Yo. cut it.
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(double barrel buckshot)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
Forces of evil on a bozo nightmare
Ban all the music with a phony gas chamber
’cuz one’s got a weasel and the other’s got a flag
One’s on the pole, shove the other in a bag
With the rerun shows and the cocaine nose-job
The daytime crap of the folksinger slob
He hung himself with a guitar string
A slab of turkey-neck and it’s hangin’ from a pigeon wing
You can’t write if you can’t relate
Trade the cash for the beef for the body for the hate
And my time is a piece of wax fallin’ on a termite
who's chokin’ on the splinters
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(get crazy with the cheese whiz)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(drive-by body-pierce)
(yo bring it on down)
Soooooyy....
?em llik uoy t'nod yhw os ,ybab resol a m'I rodedreP nu yos
[It's the Chorus backwards]
(I’m a driver, I’m a winner; things are gonna change I can feel it)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(I can’t believe you)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(Nlehh...)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?

Sam Tsui: "If I Die Young" (2010)
"If I Die Young" is the title of a song written by Kimberly Perry and recorded by American country group The Band Perry. It was released as their second single in June 2010, and serves as the lead-off single to the group's self-titled debut album, which was released on October 12, 2010.
"If I Die Young" is a mid-tempo accompanied by acoustic guitar, banjo, accordion, mandolin, and fiddle. The song's female narrator describes being content with the life she has lived, assuring others that if she were to die at her young age, that she would have no regrets. She recognizes that once someone passes away, others seem to pay attention to life more: "And maybe then you’ll hear the words I been singin' / Funny when you're dead how people start listenin'." So, she states that "if she dies young," then her family left behind should "save their tears" for a time when they're really gonna need them." She is not scared of death, because she knows she had a good life.
- Lyrics:
If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
oh oh oh oh
Lord make me a rainbow
I'll shine down on my mother
She'll know I'm safe with you
when she stands under my colors oh and
Life ain't always what you think it ought to be no
ain't even grey but she buries her baby
The sharp knife of a short life well
I've had just enough time
If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
The sharp knife of a short life well
I've had just enough time
And I'll be wearing white when I come into your kingdom
I'm as green as the ring on my little cold finger
I've never fell in love with no one
But it sure felt nice when I held you in the sun
And you, you took my hand said you'll love me forever
Who would have thought forever could be severed by
The sharp knife of a short life well
I've had just enough time
A penny for my thoughts
oh no I'll sell them for a dollar
They're worth so much more after I'm a goner
And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singin?
Funny when you're dead how people start listenin...
If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
oh oh
The ballad of a dove
Go with peace and love
Gather up your tears keep 'em in your pocket
Save them for a time when your really gonna need 'em oh
The sharp knife of a short life

- Lyrics:
Terry Callier:
[Whooooooo hoooh]
It don't matter, when you turn
Gonna Survive, you live and learn
I've been thinking about you, baby
By the light of dawn,
A midnight blue ... day and night ... I've been missing you.
I've been thinking about you, baby.
Almost makes me crazy,
Come and live with me.
Either way, Win or Lose,
When you're born into trouble,
You live the blues,
I've been thinking about you, baby.
See it almost makes me crazy
Times, Nothing's right, if you ain't here
I'll give all that I have, just to keep you near
I wrote you a letter, I tried to, make it clear
You just don't believe that i'm sincere
I've been thinking about you, baby.
(woohoooo hoooo)
Plans and schemes, hopes and fears
Dreams that deny, for all these years
I, I've been thinking about you, baby
Living with me, wow
I've been thinking about you, baby
Makes me wanna [hoooo, hoooo]
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Times, Nothing's right, if you ain't here
I'll give all that I have, just to keep you near
I wrote you a letter, darling, tried to make it clear,
But you just don't believe that I'm sincere
I've been thinking about you, baby
I want you to live with me, wow
I've been thinking about you, baby
I want you to live with me

- Lyrics:
I don't wanna fall out
But we're all out of time
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
In one day
No way you'll be mine
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
Ooohhh...
My heart is running on empty
One more day and then we go
Yeah, the time goes on now
Don't ask me how
I don't know
We'll be home tomorrow
'Bout a thousand miles too far away
Say you won't forget and I'll be okay
At least tonight
It's just you and me and honestly
That's everything I need
I don't wanna fall out
But we're all out of time
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
In one day
No way you'll be mine
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
Tonight's the countdown
'Til the day we're not around
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
And you're gone
And we're on with our lives
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
I don't want an ending
Don't want an ending...
The days turn to hours
And it's just a movement before they go
I'm scared to say goodbye,
'cause what's after that?
I don't know.
As the years look past us
If we lose track,
Or lose the fight,
I will search forever
To find a way back..
To tonight
Where it's just you and me and honestly
That's everything I need
I don't wanna fall out
But we're all out of time
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
In one day
No way you'll be mine
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
Tonight's the countdown
'Til the day we're not around
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
And you're gone
And we're on with our lives
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
I don't want an ending
We say "see ya later"
But I know there's no where we're
Around here again (yeah)
And every until next
Feels like one back punch line
And I don't want that again
I don't wanna fall out
But we're all out of time
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
In one day
No way you'll be mine
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
I don't wanna fall out
But we're all out of time
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
In one day
No way you'll be mine
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
Tonight's the countdown
'Til the day we're not around
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
And you're gone
And we're on with our lives
(Is this over?)
(Don't want an ending)
(Noo) I
(All out of time)
Don't want an ending

- Lyrics:
He left no time to regret
Kept his dick wet
With his same old safe bet
Me and my head high
And my tears dry
Get on without my guy
You went back to what you knew
So far removed from all that we went through
And I tread a troubled track
My odds are stacked
I'll go back to black
We only said good-bye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to.....
I go back to us
I love you much
It's not enough
You love blow and I love puff
And life is like a pipe
And I'm a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to
Black, black, black, black, black, black, black,
I go back to
I go back to
We only said good-bye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to
We only said good-bye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to black

- Lyrics:
A hundred days had made me older
since the last time that I've saw your pretty face
A thousand lights had made me colder and I don’t think I can look at this the same
But all the miles had separate
They disappear now when I’m dreaming of your face
I’m here without you baby
but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
and I dream about you all the time
I’m here without you baby
but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight it’s only you and me
The miles just keep rollin
as the people either way to say hello
I've heard this life is overrated
but I hope that it gets better as we go
I’m here without you baby
but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
and I dream about you all the time
I’m here without you baby
but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight girl it’s only you and me
Everything I know,
and anywhere I go
it gets hard but it won’t take away my love
And when the last one falls,
when it’s all said and done
it get hard but it won’t take away my love
I’m here without you baby
but your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
and I dream about you all the time
I’m here without you baby
but your still with me in my dreams
And tonight girl it’s only you and me

And I know some day that it’ll all turn out
You'll make me work so we can work to work it out
And I promise you kid that I give so much more than I get
I just haven't met you yet
I might have to wait, I’ll never give up
I guess it's half timin and the other half's luck
Wherever you are, whenever it's right
You'll come outta nowhere and into my life
And I know that we can be so amazin
And baby your love is gonna change me
And now I can see every possibility
Somehow I know that it’ll all turn out
You'll make me work so we can work to work it out
And promise you kid I'll give so much more than I get
I just haven't met you yet
They say all’s fair in love and war
But I won’t need to fight it
We'll get it right and we'll be united
And I know that we can be so amazin
And bein in your life is gonna change me
And now I can see every single possibility
And someday I know it'll all turn out
And I'll work to work it out
Promise you kid I’ll give more than I get

Sting and Josh Groban -- singing on stage together for the first time -- perform Sting's "Shape of My Heart" with acclaimed trumpeter Chris Botti in Botti's new PBS special CHRIS BOTTI IN BOSTON, premiering February 28 on PBS.
- Lyrics:
He deals the cards as a meditation
And those he plays never suspect
He doesn't play for the money he wins
He doesn't play for respect
He deals the cards to find the answer
The sacred geometry of chance
The hidden law of a probable outcome
The numbers lead a dance
I know that the spades are swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart
He may play the jack of diamonds
He may lay the queen of spades
He may conceal a king in his hand
While the memory of it fades
I know that the spades are swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart
And if I told you that I loved you
You'd maybe think there's something wrong
I'm not a man of too many faces
The mask I wear is one
Those who speak know nothing
And find out to their cost
Like those who curse their luck in too many places
And those who fear are lost
I know that the spades are swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart

Inxs: "Never Tear Us Apart" (Aspen 1997)
"Never Tear Us Apart" is a single released by Australian rock group INXS in August 1988. It was also included on the band's sixth studio album, Kick. The music was written by Andrew Farriss, who recorded a blues style demo and gave it to Michael Hutchence. The INXS singer then penned a personal love lyric, which was straight from the heart.
"Never Tear Us Apart" is a sensuous ballad, layered with synthesizers and containing dramatic pauses before the instrumental breaks. Kirk Pengilly lends a cathartic saxophone solo near the end. According to the liner notes of Shine Like It Does: The Anthology (1979–1997), the song was originally composed on piano as a bluesy number in the style of Fats Domino. Producer Chris Thomas suggested a synth-based arrangement instead.
The video for the song, featuring an extended intro, was filmed in various locations in Prague along with "Guns in the Sky" and "New Sensation," all directed by Richard Lowenstein.
The single reached #24 in the UK, and stayed on the charts for seven weeks. In the U.S., it reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
After his death in 1997, Michael Hutchence's coffin was carried out of St. Andrews Cathedral by the remaining members of INXS and younger brother Rhett, as "Never Tear Us Apart" was played in the background. This song is now thought of by many original INXS fans as Hutchence's anthem.
The song was used in the opening sequence of the director's cut of the 2001 cult film, Donnie Darko. It would have been featured in the original release had the rights for it not been deemed too expensive by the producers. ("The Killing Moon" by Echo & the Bunnymen served as its replacement.)
In accordance with wikipedia, in 2006, the song was voted "Nation's Favourite Lyric" by viewers of pay TV music channel VH1 in Australia.
Recently, the song has been adopted by The Squadron, the Newcastle United Jets supporter group, and sung in unison at the 40th and 85th minute of their A-League association football matches. This is in homage to the line, "cause we all have wings, but some of us don't know why", used now in reference to the Jets symbol of their club. The song's popularity has prompted a move to have the song be played at the beginning of each half, first happening on the 18th October 2008, when the Jets defeated the Melbourne Victory 1-0.
- Lyrics:
Don't ask me
What you know is true
Don't have to tell you
I love your precious heart
I
I was standing
You were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never tear us apart
We could live
For a thousand years
But if I hurt you
I'd make wine from your tears
I told you
That we could fly
'Cause we all have wings
But some of us don't know why
I
I was standing
You were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never ever tear us apart

Moody Blues: "Your Wildest Dreams" (1986)
"Your Wildest Dreams" is a 1986 single by the progressive rock band The Moody Blues, and it was written by the band's lead guitarist Justin Hayward. The song was first released as a single, and was later released on the Moody Blues 1986 album The Other Side of Life. It was a top-10 hit in the United States, peaking at #9, which had not happened to a Moody Blues song since "Nights in White Satin". The song also became an Adult Contemporary number-one hit, and also charted at number two on the Mainstream Rock chart.
According to wikpedia, The Moody Blues' previous album, The Present, was relatively unsuccessful, although it did contain a couple of moderately successful singles. This caused the Moody Blues to lose some of their popularity among younger audiences. The success of "Your Wildest Dreams" reintroduced the Moody Blues to this younger audience, and their popularity was boosted even higher than before as a result.
With the band moving towards a more electronic sound, the Moody Blues relied less upon band member Ray Thomas and his flute skills—"Your Wildest Dreams" was one of the first singles not to feature Thomas at all—though Thomas would continue to be a major asset to the Moody Blues' concerts, as he would continue to play flute on their earlier songs, in addition to being a back-up vocalist.
The lyrics of "Your Wildest Dreams" tell the story of a man who is remembering his first love, and wonders if she remembers him the way he remembers her. "Your Wildest Dreams" was followed up by a sequel in 1988. The sequel is titled "I Know You're Out There Somewhere", and it appears on the Moody Blues album Sur la Mer.
A music video was also produced for "Your Wildest Dreams", which received a Billboard Video of the Year award. The video was frequently featured on MTV. The model in the video is Janet Spencer-Turner.
- Lyrics:
Once upon a time
Once when you were mine
I remember skies
Reflected in your eyes
I wonder where you are
I wonder if you
Think about me
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams
Once the world was new
Our bodies felt the morning dew
That greets the brand new day
We couldn't tear ourselves away
I wonder if you care
I wonder if you still remember
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams
And when the music plays
And when the words are
Touched with sorrow
When the music plays
I hear the sound
I had to follow
Once upon a time
Once beneath the stars
The universe was ours
Love was all we knew
And all I knew was you
I wonder if you know
I wonder if you think about it
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams
And when the music plays
And when the words are
Touched with sorrow
When the music plays
And when the music plays
I hear the sound
I had to follow
Once upon a time
Once upon a time
Once when you were mine
I remember skies
Mirrored in your eyes
I wonder where you are
I wonder if you
Think about me
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams
In your wildest dreams
In your wildest dreams

Duffy: "Endlessly" (Live on Jools Holland, 2010)
Endlessly is the second studio album by Welsh singer-songwriter Duffy. It was released on 26 November 2010 in the UK by A&M Records (under Polydor), and in the US by Mercury Records. Duffy worked almost exclusively with Albert Hammond Snr. on the album, with all but one of the album's songs being written by Hammond and Duffy. Four of the songs received additional or co-production by Stuart Price. Music is also provided by The Roots and ?uestlove. Musically, the album follows the soul stylings of her first album Rockferry (2008), although Duffy drew inspiration from a variety of other genres, including disco and soft rock. It has been said that Duffy wrote the album in three weeks.
The album received mixed reviews, with critics stating that Duffy faltered outside of her comfort zone, although it was called a "proper sophomore effort" and "Effortlessly". Vocally, Duffy's falsetto and vibrato were both criticised and praised. Commercially, it did not replicate Duffy's debut success, reaching just number 72 on the US Billboard 200. However, Endlessly reached the top ten on album charts in Denmark, Finland, Greece, The Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. It has been certified Gold in three European countries thus far.
The first and only single from Endlessly, titled "Well, Well, Well", did not perform well on national charts, and was only a modest European success, reaching a peak of 37 on the European Hot 100 Singles chart and number 41 in the UK. The single features a rhythm section by United States hip hop group The Roots. Duffy promoted the album extensively throughout the world, performing on many television shows and conducting an array of print interviews. A live extended play (EP) of songs from the album was released in Germany in 2011 and plans for a concert tour are listed as "coming soon" on Duffy's website. However, since releasing the album, it has been announced that Duffy is taking an extended break from the music industry to work on her third studio album, and the planned second single from Endlessly - "My Boy" - was cancelled, though a single mix of the title track was digitally released.
- Lyrics:
Endlessly,
I'm counting down the days
When you will come my way
Endlessly,
I fall asleep to dream
And you're here again it seems, endlessly
I'm looking for you everywhere that I go
In all of the things I do
Still I'll keep looking, 'til I find you, 'til I find you
Endlessly,
I turn to every door
And it's you I'm hoping for, so endlessly
I'm looking for you every where that I go
In all of the things I do
Still I'll keep looking
'Til I find you
'Til I find you
'Til I find you
'Til I find you

Michael Jackson: "They Don't Care About Us" (1996)
"They Don't Care About Us" is the fourth single from Michael Jackson's album HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I, released on April 1, 1996. The song remains one of the most controversial pieces Jackson ever composed. In the US, media scrutiny surrounding alleged antisemitic lyrics were the catalyst for Jackson issuing multiple apologies and re-recording the song with altered lyrics. The singer countered allegations of antisemitism, arguing that reviews had misinterpreted the context of the song, either unintentionally or deliberately. Musically, it is an aggressive hip-hop production about social ills.
The song was accompanied by two music videos directed by Spike Lee. The first was shot in two locations in Brazil, a favela in Rio de Janeiro called Dona Marta and in Salvador da Bahia. State authorities tried to ban all production over fears the video would damage their image, the area and prospects of staging the 2004 Olympics. Still, the residents of the area were happy to see the singer, hoping their problems would be made visible to a wider audience. The second video was shot in a prison and contained video footage of multiple references to human rights abuses.
Commercially, the song became a top ten hit in all European countries and number one in Germany for three weeks. In the US, radio stations were reluctant to play the controversial composition; it, however, managed to peak at number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.
- Lyrics:
skinhead, deadhead, everybody gone bad
situation, aggravation, everybody allegation
in the suite, on the news, everybody dog food
bang bang, shock dead, everybodys gone bad.
chorus:
all i wanna say is that
they don't really care about us
all i wanna say is that
they don't really care about us
beat me, hate me, you can never break me
will me, thrill me, you can never kill me
chew me, sue me, everybody do me
kick me, hike me, don't you black or white me
chorus
tell me what has become of my life
i have a wife and two children who love me
i am the victiom of police brutality, now.
i'm tired of being the victim of hate,
you're rapin' me of my pride
of for god's sake
i look to heaven to fulfill its prophecy....
set me free
skinhead, deadhead, everybody gone bad
trepidation, speculation, everybody allegation
in the suite, on the news, everybody dog food
black man, black mail, throw the brother in jail
chorus
tell me what has become of my rights
am i invisible cause you ignore me?
your proclamation promised me free liberty, now.
i'm tired of being the victim of shame
they're throwing me in a class with a bad name
i can't believe this is the land from which i came.
you know i really do hate to say
the government don't wanna say
but if roosevelt was livin',
he would't let this be, no no.
skinhead, deadhead, everybodys gone bad
situation, speculation, everybody litigation
beat me, bash me, you can never trash me
hit me, kick me, you can never get me
chorus
some things in live they just don't wanna see
but if martin luther was livin'
he wouldn't let this be
skinhead, deadhead, everybody's gone bad
situation, segregation, everybody allegation
in the suite, on the news, everybody dog food
kick me, hike me, don't you wrong or right me
chorus

Bryan Adams: "Young Lust" (The Pink Floyd's Concert 1991)
"Young Lust" is a song by Pink Floyd. It appears on The Wall album in 1979. As with the other songs on The Wall, "Young Lust" tells a portion of the story of "Pink", the album's protagonist. Pink has become a rock star, and is always away from home as a result of his demanding lifestyle. He begins inviting groupies into his room between concerts, having not seen his wife in months.
The end of the song is part of a dialogue between Pink and a telephone operator; it is at this point he realises that his wife has been having an affair for some time, and his mental breakdown accelerates. The dialogue with the operator was the result of an arrangement co-producer James Guthrie made with his neighbour in London during the recording of the album in Los Angeles. He felt that the operator actually had to believe he'd caught his wife having an affair, and so didn't inform the operator she was being recorded. The first two operators Guthrie used to place the call apparently missed the significance of what had apparently transpired; the third is the one heard on the album.
- Lyrics:
I am just a new boy
Stranger in this town
Where are all the good times?
Who's gonna show this stranger around?
Ooooo I need a dirty woman
Ooooo I need a dirty girl
Will some woman in this desert land
Make me feel like a real man?
Take this rock n roll refugee
Ooo Babe, set me free
Ooooo I need a dirty woman
Ooooo I need a dirty girl
Ooooo I need a dirty woman
Ooooo I need a dirty girl
(Phone Ringing)
[Man:] "Hello?"
[Operator:] "Yes, a collect call for Mrs. Floyd from Mr. Floyd.
Will you accept the charges from the United States"
(Phone is Hung Up)
"He hung up. Is this your residence, sir?"
"I wonder why he hung up..."
"There must be someone else there
besides your wife to answer."
(Phone Ringing)
[Man:] "Hello?"
[Operator:] "This is the United States calling."
"Are we reaching?"
(Phone is Hung Up)
"See he keeps hanging up."
"But it's a man answering."
(Operator cuts connection)

Woke up this morning with a wine glass in my hand
Whose wine, what wine, where the hell did I dine?
Must have been a dream I don't believe where I've been
Come on - you wanna do it again?
Do you, you feel like I do?
Do you, you feel like I do?
My friend got busted just the other day
They said don't walk, don't walk, don't walk away
He drove into a taxi bent the boot hit the back
Had to play some music otherwise he'd crack
Do you, you feel like I do?
Do you, you feel like I do?
Champagne for breakfast and a sherman in my hand
***** top, ***** tails - never fails
Must have been a dream I don't believe where I've been
Come on - you wanna do it again?
Do you, you feel like I do?
Do you, you feel like I do?

- Lyrics:
I'm out here on the street
There's no one left to meet
The things that were so sweet
No longer move my feet
But I keep trying
I keep on trying
All that I want is
Stillness of heart
So I can start
To find my way
Out of the dark
And into your heart
I got more than I can eat
A life that can't be beat
Yet still I feel this heat
I'm feeling incomplete
What am I buying?
My soul is crying
All that I want is
Stillness of heart
So I can start
To find my way
Out of the dark
And into your heart
Where's the love?
What is this world we live in?
Where's the love ?
We've got to keep on giving
Where's the love ?
What happened to forgiving ?
Anyone ?
All that I want is
Stillness of heart
So I can start
To find my way
Out of the dark
And into your heart

Duran Duran: "Come Undone" (1993)
"Come Undone" is the second single from the album Duran Duran (The Wedding Album) by British band Duran Duran, and is their twenty-fourth single overall.
With their commercial and critical success reestablished by the previous single "Ordinary World", "Come Undone" continued to showcase more of the band's entry into the Adult Contemporary genre. The single proved to be the group's second consecutive US top ten hit from The Wedding Album. It was also popular in the UK and other international markets.
In accordance with wikipedia, the group's guitarist at the time, Warren Cuccurullo, is credited with developing the instrumentation for "Come Undone", most importantly its guitar hook, which he developed while trying to do a re-interpretation of "First Impression" from their 1990 album Liberty. In 2005, Cuccurullo revealed to author Steve Malins that he and Nick Rhodes had originally planned on using the song for a project outside of Duran Duran with Gavin Rossdale, but had changed plans when singer Simon Le Bon took a liking to the music and began to come up with lyrics on the spot. The song was included as a last minute addition to their self-titled album in 1993, with the lyrics bring written by Le Bon as a birthday gift for his wife, Yasmin Le Bon.
The group's bassist, John Taylor, did not actually play bass on this track, although he does in the music video. Nick Rhodes and John Jones both contributed synth bass on the track during his absence. Tessa Niles was credited with backing vocals. The song also contains a sample from The Soul Searchers' song "Ashley's Roachclip".
- Lyrics:
Come Undone
Mine, immaculate dream made breath and skin
I've been waiting for you
Signed, with a home tattoo,
Happy birthday to you was created for you
Can't ever keep from falling apart
At the seams
Can't I believe you're taking my heart
To pieces
Oh, it'll take a little time,
might take a little crime
to come undone now
We'll try to stay blind
to the hope and fear outside
Hey child, stay wilder than the wind
And blow me in to cry
Who do you need, who do you love
When you come undone
Who do you need, who do you love
When you come undone
Words, playing me deja vu
Like a radio tune I swear I've heard before
Chill, is it something real
Or the magic I'm feeding off your fingers
Can't ever keep from falling apart
At the seams
Can I believe you're taking my heart
To pieces
Lost, in a snow filled sky, we'll make it alright
To come undone now
We'll try to stay blind
to the hope and fear outside
Hey child, stay wilder than the wind
And blow me in to cry
Who do you need, who do you love
When you come undone
Who do you need, who do you love
When you come undone
Who do you need, who do you love
When you come undone...

Dave A. Stewart: "Heart Of Stone" (1995)
Dave Stewart is a BRIT Award winning Englis musician, songwriter and record producer, best known for his work with Eurythmics. He is usually credited as David A. Stewart, to avoid confusion with other musicians named "Dave Stewart".
Stewart has been described by friend and collaborator, Bob Dylan, as a "fearless innovator".Stewart was born in Sunderland, England. In 1971, whilst still in his teens, Dave Stewart secured a record deal as part of folk-rock band Longdancer, but they did not achieve commercial success. Stewart then spent several years living in squats in London. In late 1976, he was introduced to Annie Lennox by a mutual friend. Soon, Stewart and Lennox became lovers. By 1977, the pair had teamed up with Sunderland musician Peet Coombes, releasing a single on Logo Records as The Catch. The band then developed into The Tourists who enjoyed modest success, including a hit in 1979 with a cover of the Dusty Springfield hit "I Only Want to Be with You". (Source: Wikipedia)
- Lyrics:
I bought your record in NYC
Discorama down on Union Square
I must have played it a million times over
I´d close my eyes imagine you were there
you know
I really dig the clothes you wear
I only wish you could be my baby
I want to read about it
do you think we could have an affair
Maybe your heart is made of stone
maybe I´m just too blind to see
maybe your heart is made of stone
maybe I´m just too blind too see
Two weeks in ElectricLady Land
two weeks and that´s all for me
I could be lucky and get off lightly
with a broken nose and the third degree
she said I really dig Disco music
and if you want to be my baby
we´d better talk about it
maybe then we could have an affair
Maybe your heart is made of stone
maybe I´m just too blind to see
maybe your heart is made of stone
maybe I´m just too blind too see
I want to drive east coast to west coast
turn up my radio set myself free
don´t want to talk about it
you and me should have an affair
Maybe your heart is made of stone
maybe I´m just too blind to see
maybe your heart is made of stone
maybe I´m just too blind to see

Tracy Chapman: "Talkin' 'Bout a Revolution" (1988)
According to wikipedia, " Talkin' 'Bout a Revolution'" is the second single from African American contemporary folk artist Tracy Chapman. The politically aware song failed to replicate the success of its predecessor, "Fast Car", and peaked at #75 in the United States. However, it also managed to chart on four other charts maintained by Billboard (which brings out the weekly US chart), and reached the top forty in two of them.
Internationally, this single was a big hit, reaching the Top 40 in several countries (France, New Zealand, etc.), becoming a classic in the Chapman's song repertoire.
- Lyrics:
Don't you know
They're talkin' about a revolution
It sounds like whisper
Don't you know
They're talkin' about a revolution
It sounds like whisper
While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation
Wasting time in the unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion
Poor people gonna rise up
And get their share
Poor people gonna rise up
And take what's theirs
Don't you know
You better run...
Oh I said you better
Run
run
run...

Mungo Jerry: "In The Summertime" (1970)
Mungo Jerry is an English rock group whose greatest success was in the early 1970s, though they have continued throughout the years with an ever-changing line-up, always fronted by Ray Dorset.
They are remembered above all for their hit "In the Summertime". It remains their most successful and most instantly recognisable song. Their name was inspired by the poem Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer, from T. S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats.
According to Joseph Murrell's The Book of Golden Discs (1978), 'Mungomania' was possibly the most startling and unpredicted pop phenomenon to hit Britain since The Beatles.
- Lyrics:
In the summertime
when the weather is high
you can stretch right up
an' touch the sky
when the weather's fine
you got women
you got women on your mind.
Have a drink
have a drive
go out an' see what you can find.
If her daddie's rich
take her out for a meal
if her daddie's poor
just do as you feel
speed along the lane
do a ton
or a ton an'twenty five
when the sun goes down
you can make it
make it good in a lay-by.
We're not grey people
we're not dirty
we're not mean
we love everybody but we
do as we please
when the weather's fine
we go fishing
or go swimming in the sea.
we're always happy
life's for living
yeah ! That's our philosophy.
Whenthe winter's here
yeah
it's party time
bring a bottle
wear your bright clothes
it'll soon be summertime
and we'll sing again
we'll go driving
or maybe we'll settle down
if she's rich
if she's nice
bring your friends
an' we'll all go into town.
