Andy James: The Guitar Genius

Perth-based Gospel Singer/Songwriter Andy James Court has released 3 innovative CD’s, Only You, Two’s Company, and his most recent Remember, which have won several prestigious national and International awards including, the 1998 ASA Australian Gospel Songwriter of the year, 2004 Gospel Winner of the UK Songwriting Contest, a 2004 winner in the Gospel category of Unisong International, a 2005 Finalist receiving Honourable Mention in the International Songwriting Competition, and 2004 & 2005 Musicoz Runner up.

Andy’s greatest strength lies in his ability to connect with audiences on an open and intimate level. His approachable and humorous character helps build a bond between him and those who attend his concerts.

Andy is no stranger to public performances, and has taken his music to churches, schools, prisons, stadiums and festivals. He has, in the past, performed at the World Swimming Championship held in Perth, at a Wildcats Basketball Charity Event at the Challenge Stadium, at the Perth Esplanade Red Cross Bali Bombing Appeal, at the 2002 Church Together, was the Headline Artist at the 2004 Mandurah Christmas Pageant to a crowd of over 20,000, co-hosted the 2005 World Vision Christmas concert and performed more recently at the 2006 Teen Challenge W.A. Annual Dinner.

His concerts and performances have been warmly embraced, and have touched the lives of thousands.

Andy frequently performs with his wife Sharon, an African/American style Gospel Choir and awesome audio-visual triple-screen effects. On the odd occasion, he also performs on a smaller scale as a solo artist with an acoustic guitar and a testimony of love.

He and his wife are the founders and directors of ‘The Supernatural Gospel Choir’.

Andy wrote, recorded and produced both his first and second albums, Only You and Two’s Company, and in keeping with tradition, he has also produced his third album Remember, which he feels realises some of his best songwriting to date. His musical style blends Contemporary Christian Pop, Black Gospel, Sounds of Africa and Inspirational Power Ballads to create a funky brand of “Gospel-Pop”.

Andy’s vocal and songwriting has been likened to that of Peter Gabriel, Elvis Costello, Steven Curtis Chapman and Sting.
