The Church: "Under The Milky Way" (Live In Italy - Gold Afternoon Fix Tour 1989)

"Under the Milky Way" is a single by Australian alternative rock band The Church released in February 1988 with their album, Starfish. The song was written by bass guitarist and vocalist Steve Kilbey and his then-girlfriend, Karin Jansson (ex-Pink Champagne, Curious Yellow). It charted in the Top 30 on the Australian Singles Chart and US Billboard Hot 100 and won an ARIA Award in 1989 for 'Single of the Year'.

- Lyrics:

Sometimes when this place gets kind of empty,
Sound of their breath fades with the light.
I think about the loveless fascination,
Under the Milky Way tonight.

Lower the curtain down in Memphis,
Lower the curtain down all right.
I got no time for private consultation,
Under the Milky Way tonight.

Wish I knew what you were looking for.
Might have known what you would find.
Wish I knew what you were looking for.
Might have known what you would find.

And it's something quite peculiar,
Something that's shimmering and white.
Leads you here despite your destination,
Under the Milky Way tonight
(Chorus)
Under the Milky Way tonight.
